Methods of Vedanta

Vedanta became recognised as an independent system of thought with the Brahmasutra of Badarayana. It was not either Advaitavedanta or visishtadvaita or Dvaita or Bedabheda, but mear vedanta. Yet, an attempt to organaise a syestem started with the Brahmasutra and this development supports the use of certion method. First of all, the trdition defined vedanta as 'upanishdpramana'   (vedanta sara of sadananda). We can find in the brahmasutra that the upanishadic concepts had been collected to form a corpus of homogenous ideas.
Next there comes the period of  "Vedanta Schools". The Advaitavedanta,  Visishtadvaita, Dvaita and other minor but important schools. All these schools came out of Brahmasutra within the  span of a 1500 years. Still the process is going on. All these schools establish their philosophy or system by interpreting the Brahmasutra of Badarayana.
